As of yesterday, I've had this journal for five years.

To celebrate, I'm officially switching to lemdrop!

It might take me a while to get everything working over there and everything shut down over here, but I've been meaning to switch for a while so now's as good of a time as any. Likewise, I'm kind of doing a friends cut (OH NOSE) at the same time, there's a lot of people I watch who never post, or like, people who I'm not sure who they are any more. XD; So if you still want to read my stuff, watch lemdrop, not rapierice, and if you got cut and would like to be added back to see my flocked stuff, just go ahead and tell me and I'll add you back. c:

Okay, so, I wish I'd made more of an effort to get online because now I have a WHOLE LOT to talk about all at once.

I drove to Bend with kagaeris and my douchey brother. I lost my iPod like fifty times, taught my mother to snowboard, went surfing (disclaimer: that is not me, I am not that good or that hot), had three separate christmases, made a silent hill level in little big planet, bought a cutesy shirt that reminds me of hanaurimusume's artwork, and drove around a thousand miles altogether.

( Oh, and we also stayed in a haunted cabin. )

And now I have managed to creep myself out remembering this while I'm alone in my apartment YAAAAAAAAY.

I'm gonna be doing four paintings as Christmas gifts tomorrow today. The biggest is 18x36, for my mother.

I think it's gonna be a pain but I'll try to get some pictures of the finished painting. I don't like painting from photos at all, so we'll see how it goes!!

My halloween costume didn't work out so well this year. The sewing part did okay, but my wig STILL is not here (it was supposed to be here three days ago) so I had to use my drow wig. I'd also never used nosewax in this way before and I can't quite figure out how to get it off of my skin, so my eyebrows and temples feel kind of gross still, even after washing my face until it was red.



All in all I think it turned out okay, though.

That kind of makes me feel good and bad at once.

On happier news, I am now officially character designer for my game team. Thank god, they had the environment guy doing the character designs and honestly they were pretty bad, probably because he keeps fucking tracing shit, see the first paragraph.

So I bought this brown jacket thing.

It was at Value Village (thrift store) for $15. We had to get a curio for class, but I walked out with a soap dish as curio, a foam head to put my wig on, a little glass bottle for cosplay, and this jacket.

It is a size or two too big and brown with lighter brown stripes and brown buttons. It was like-new to the point of having most of the pockets sewn shut!

( But I don't much like brown. )

And that's what I did tonight.

WTF I didn't know I could draw like that. o_o I'm terrified.

This week has definitely been the week from hell. Not just for me, it seems like most of the people I know have just had a generally shitty time this week. Family issues, dogs with cancer, seriously, you name it. What the hell, world.

Good things that happened this week:
-I DO have a game team. Not one I would have picked, really, but it will do.
-A construction dude working on the apartments here totally called me sir. I missed it at first, I'd just gotten out of the shower and thrown on clothes and was hurrying to the elevator with my bag and motorcycle helmet. *shrug* Pretty cool, I wish I knew what had done it.
-DrowLove is perfect and amazing as always.

Okay, out of bulleted list format, our ART450 class, Portfolio or some shit, is going over "selling ourselves" and working on gaining name recognition in the industry and whatever. I just... really feel very inadequate and ill-prepared to be at this point in my life already and I'm not sure what to do about that. I like many of the communities I'm a member of online, and I don't really want to wipe my face off the internet just so I can start over again. I mean, I could, but... I just don't know.

I'm supposed to get a blog. This is a blog, but I don't think that's what she means. I'm looking at uh, blogspot, or blogger, or whatever that thing is called, since that seems to be where all the animation people have their blogs. It seems weird to move away from LJ... maybe I can keep an LJ, but go anonymous with it? I don't know. I'll probably be moving over to lemdrop soonish, but I'll warn you lot beforehand.

SO I run into this problem of not having a solid screenname. I'm supposed to get a theme/palette/"look" for "myself" and I'm not sure what she means by that... my art and ME are very, very different. I like drawing really sort of overdramatic/dark things but I really love graphic designy cute things, style-wise. It leaves me confused! I want to go with either a theme of water (swimming, Caspian, blue) or a theme of opposites (cute stuff/horror and blood, air/water, elves/robots) and I'm wondering if I can merge those somehow without ending up with some HUGE LONG RIDICULOUS screenname.

I'd use "Luminance" entirely if it wasn't so often taken.
I'd use "Caspian" or "Underwater" if they won't obviously be taken.
I'd use "Antipode" if it wouldn't be so obviously taken.

Who knows.

Anyway, I don't know how much longer this journal/my DA/my Sheezy are gonna last. :x I'm tempted to do a clean wipe still but ehhhhh I do not know. We'll see!!
